A complete guide to the do's, don'ts and regulations every visitor must follow inside Rajaji National Park and Rajaji Tiger Reserve. Violations are punishable under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
Important: Any violation of park rules is treated as an offence under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and may result in imprisonment of up to 3 years, a penalty, or both.
Every visitor must carry a valid government-issued photo ID — Aadhaar card, passport, driving licence or voter ID. Entry is not permitted without proper identification.
Your guide and driver know the terrain, animal behaviour and park rules. Follow their instructions at all times without exception.
Remain seated inside the safari vehicle at all times. Do not get down, stand up, or lean out — even for photographs. Wild animals can appear without warning.
Vehicles must stay on designated tracks and maintain a maximum speed of 20 km/h. Off-road driving is strictly prohibited.
Follow the confirmed morning and evening safari schedule. Arrive at the reporting point well before your slot. Late arrivals may not be accommodated.
Wear neutral-coloured clothing — khaki, olive, beige or muted earth tones. Avoid bright colours, flashy patterns, or strong fragrances that may disturb wildlife.
Blowing horns, playing music, shouting or creating any unnecessary noise is strictly prohibited. Keep mobile phones on silent or vibration mode.
Feeding, teasing, calling out to, or attempting to interact with any animal is forbidden. Do not throw food items inside the park under any circumstances.
Chasing or surrounding any animal or bird for photographs or a closer look is prohibited. Maintain a safe distance and let wildlife pass first.
Smoking, consuming alcohol, and carrying lighters, matchboxes or any inflammable material is strictly prohibited. Rajaji is a high fire-risk area.
Rajaji is a plastic-free zone. Do not carry plastic bags, tin cans, glass bottles, metal foils, or any non-biodegradable waste. Carry everything out.
Flash photography is prohibited. It can startle wildlife and is considered a disturbance. Use natural light and respect all photography restrictions in effect.
The following items are strictly forbidden inside Rajaji National Park. Carrying any of these can result in denied entry, fines, or legal action:
No person is permitted inside Rajaji National Park without a valid entry pass. Permits are non-transferable. Do not attempt to enter using someone else's booking details.
Entry after sunset and before sunrise is prohibited. Night driving is strictly forbidden. Safaris operate only during designated morning and evening slots.
The park authority reserves the right to admit or deny any person entry. Permits may be cancelled without cited reason if circumstances require it.
The forest is not a zoo. Wildlife sightings cannot be predicted or guaranteed — every moment inside Rajaji is unique and unfolds on its own terms. Be patient, stay observant and appreciate the forest for what it offers, not just what you hoped to see.
The jungle is the home of the animals that live in it. We are only visitors. Please ensure you and your companions follow all safety measures, maintain a cordial atmosphere with fellow tourists, and do not harm the environment in any way.
If you witness any violation of park rules or suspicious activity, please report it to the nearest forest official or contact our team. Responsible tourism begins with responsible visitors.
Our team ensures you know the rules before you arrive. Book directly with Rajaji Jeep Safari for a safe, legal and memorable forest experience.
