Planning Rajaji National Park Safari 2027 from Delhi is mainly a timing and transfer exercise. The reserve is in Uttarakhand, and the safari permit is tied to a selected date, zone and morning or evening shift. A long road or rail journey from Delhi should therefore be arranged around the confirmed reporting gate, not the other way around.
The official Rajaji Tiger Reserve pages currently publish the day-visit booking flow and a general tourist window, but they do not publish a separate 2027 availability calendar. Use this guide to prepare; use the live official portal to confirm the final date and permit.
Choose the safari date before booking transport
Start with the official Rajaji Tiger Reserve booking page. The current page states that the reserve remains open for tourists from 15 November to 15 June, but that current statement is not a guarantee of every 2027 date. January to mid-June 2027 should be checked in the live calendar, while November and December 2027 remain future dates until the portal offers them.
Keep at least one backup date. A single fixed date can fail because the zone is unavailable, the shift is full or your Delhi transport is delayed. Do not pay a private “hold” amount in place of an official permit.
Road or rail from Delhi?
The best transport choice depends on the gate and the rest of your itinerary. A road transfer gives direct control over luggage and hotel stops but must allow for traffic outside Delhi and on the approach to Uttarakhand. Rail travel can reduce the long road section, but a same-morning connection to a fixed safari slot remains risky.
The official pages identify Haridwar as a nearby rail connection for the Chilla side and Jolly Grant, Dehradun as a nearby airport reference. Confirm the actual gate and transfer with your booking contact before choosing accommodation. A map distance is not the same as a safe reporting-time plan.
Stay near the route, not only the city name
Haridwar, Rishikesh and Dehradun are useful bases, but the correct base depends on the selected zone. Ask for the gate name, pickup time, vehicle capacity and expected road time in writing. Save those details offline in case mobile signal is weak on the morning of the drive.
If you arrive by train, arriving the previous day is safer than connecting a delayed train to a fixed permit. The rail-arrival guide explains how to plan that buffer.
Understand the gate timing
The official booking page currently displays seasonal Safari Gypsy entry windows. From 15 November to 15 February it shows morning 6:30–8:00 AM and evening 1:30–3:00 PM. From 16 February to 15 April it shows morning 6:00–7:30 AM and evening 2:00–3:30 PM. From 16 April to 15 June it shows morning 5:30–7:00 AM and evening 3:00–4:30 PM.
Reconfirm the timing on the 2027 permit. The official page also advises arriving at least 20 minutes before the last entry timing and warns that late arrivals may not be entertained without a refund.
